It's been a busy spring! As you may know, my neighbor's building burned to the ground in late March. I prefer a less destructive form of spring cleaning, but nobody asked me. Luckily the contents of my studio were unscathed, but the apartment did sustain some damage so we're displaced until that can be finished. Despite all this, opportunities keep coming my way, and I'm feeling really positive about my art.

One Week Down (Vermont Studio Center)
Not gonna lie, it was kind of a rough start. I decided to ship all of my art supplies once I found out how reasonable the prices were to FedEx a couple boxes -- and they'd be there within two days! Sure they would. Between the holiday weekend, winter weather, and general Brooklyn deliveryperson laziness/incompetence, the pickup got delayed and then for the first couple of mornings I woke up to notification emails that the delivery was further and further delayed.

I'm excited to announce that I've been awarded a month-long residency at the Vermont Studio Center, the largest artist/writer residency in the United States. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'll be in the little town of Johnson, Vermont - drawing, painting, and writing to my heart's content. I'm looking forward to (and a little overwhelmed by) the opportunity to step out of the daily grind and focus all of my energy on creating new work.

Smile: a New Print & a Giveaway!
When I was a kid, all but 3 of my teeth had to be pulled.
(Those other 3 I pulled out myself, wiggling them because they were "loose" until they actually were loose. One I yanked out at summer camp, out of mild boredom. Every one else was swimming.)
