My favorite vermillion colored pencil came to play, sketching in vines and leaves over a pale green canvas.  Attempting to describe the sea of green, vibrant red gestures foreshadowed the ripe color to come later in the season and the mid-summer heat.  After hours spent trying to visually untangle the jungle vines forming a canopy against the sky, I feel a strange new kinship with Mondrian and his tree paintings.
