Like much of my work, this print came about spontaneously and left me to figure out what it was about on my own.  I'm still not sure I have a good answer for that, but in order to title it I interpreted it in relation to the first show it was in, "Family," at Launch Pad Gallery, in 2009.

It's called "Excisum Meus Fratres, Puer Sola Ego Sum," meaning "My Siblings Having Been Lost, I Am An Only Child," which makes reference to my the fallopian pregnancies the preceded and followed my birth, rendering me, irreversibly, an only child.

This print consists of 6 layers of ink (in order of printing: rose gold, coral, cranberry, bruise, shadow, and copper haze) on cream-colored Stonehenge paper.  I chose Stonehenge cream because it has a beautiful peach cast to it; if you stack multiple sheets together, stand them on end, and then let them gap a little so the light sifts through, they look like they're glowing. The printed region is about 6 1/2 inches high by 7 1/4 wide; the paper is 11 1/4 inches high by 9 7/8 high, with a deckled bottom edge.  This is an edition of 19 with 2 artist proofs.
